Whether you are a guest or owner at Capella Pedregal Hotel & Residences, a Cabo San Lucas resident, or a Cabo visitor; if you are looking for a day of relaxing, pampering and the best spa experience, Auriga Spa at Capella Pedregal Resort is the place to go.
Auriga Spa was designed by word acclaimed spa designer Sylvia Sepielli, who – in the process of creating the concept of the spa – consulted a curandera (a healer) Josefina in order to help her design a spa environment that will harmoniously blend with Baja nature. The 10,000 m2 (107,640 sq ft) Auriga spa is a perfect place to renew your senses, get pampered from hair to toe, and forget that there exists the outside world.
You can find Auriga Spa also at Capella Schloss Velden in Austria, in Capella Singapore, and at Setai Fifth Avenue. Each Auriga is known for their signature treatments which follow the lunar cycles. Auriga Signature Treatments are a truly unique experience – a pure bliss of 2-3 hours; if you haven’t tried one so far, please do so – you will be left in awe. Even though I am the greatest fan of Auriga’s lunar signature treatments, I decided to try two new treatments, exclusive to Auriga Spa at Capella Pedregal. One of them is Art of Sound Therapy, developed exclusively by Auriga Spa at Capella Pedregal and available only at Capella Pedregal Hotel and Resort. The second treatment I decided to experience is Green Coffee and Chili Body Sculpting Treatment, recently introduced at Capella Pedregal, thus being the only spa in Mexico offering this rejuvenating and lifting treatment.
My personal recommendation to You when heading to Auriga Spa at Capella Pedregal for a treatment is to arrive to the spa at least half an hour earlier. That way you will have enough time to enjoy the beautiful sauna area, which features Finn sauna, Turkish sauna, ice room and Jacuzzi. It helps you relax, prepare your skin & soul for the treatments, but also release the toxins from the skin.
Art of Sound Therapy
As with any other treatment at Auriga Spa at Capella Pedregal, the Art of Sound Therapy treatment starts with a refreshing foot massage with basil, thyme and lemon exfoliation.
After that Nora, my therapist for the day, took me to a special treatment room where Art of Sound Therapy is performed. The treatment is personalized to your body’s needs – before the treatment starts you sit under a big chime, close your eyes and listen to 5 sounds your therapist will play for you. You choose the sound which appeals to you the most. By selecting the sound you also define your treatment, as each sound is connected to different chakras and organs of your body. Your body will intuitively select the sound and therapy your body is seeking. Let’s say that you feel stress, or that you have issues with your throat, back, and so on. The key tones are connected to different chakras and will help you heal them with the sound and accompanying treatment.
The sound travels better through water, and as our body is composed of about 70% of water, the sound therapy really does seem as a perfect way to treat our body discomfort.
The color of primary key tone I selected was marked as yellow on my Sound Therapy Key Tone Card; the sound therapy focused on Love, Purity and Personal Power; with governing chakras solar plexus, root and throat; and sound healing attributes on pancreas, reproductive organs, adrenals and thyroid. Therapist Nora explained that the next time I come, I might subconsciously choose another sound, if my body will be in need of any other treatment.
The treatment itself is a combination of balancing treatment, where the therapist tries to put your body in balance with a massage, while at the same time playing sounds that you selected at the beginning of your treatment. The amazing thing is that the music never stops, and the therapist never lets you go in the 60 or 90 minutes of your Art of Sound Therapy treatment. At some point it seemed that nothing really exists in this world, except of me, gentle but strong hands that made me feel so good, the profound comforting sound of a chime, and a distant sound of the crashing waves at Capella Pedregal beach. Heaven?
Sound therapy you will leave relaxed and balanced. You will leave the spa with your Sound Therapy Key Tone Card, with marked key tones, chakras, sound healing attributes and color of your personalized session. As a present you will also receive a fold of sage leaves, which Capella Pedregal’s curandera Josefina dries at the full moon, and which you can burn in your home as incense.
PROs: I never imagined that the combination of the sound and a treatment would be so good and so beneficial at the same time.
CONs: If you have tried Auriga’s Signature Treatments, which in 2 or 3 hours (depends on a current Lunar cycle) includes exfoliation, face and body treatment, then it might be hard for you to go back again to ‘only’ a full body massage. My recommendation for a full experience is to combine the Art of Sound Therapy with a 60 min facial treatment.
Green Coffee Body Sculpting Treatment
After a short break Nora and I continued with a Green Coffee and Chili Body Sculpting Treatment. Nora is proud to say that no other spa in Mexico offers this treatment. It’s a dual hot and cold therapy. We started off with a firming and draining massage with heating oil consisting of green coffee, chili, juniper and grapefruit. The firm hands and oil helped stimulate fat burning effects – I actually felt as if all the “bad” ingredients in my body were leaving (hooray!). Nora explained that the heating oil massage also helps to stimulate blood flow which helps improve oxygenation of the skin, and that it all together results in flatter tummy, smoother skin, and reduced puffiness.
Heating oil massage was followed by a massage with a cooling gel, which includes menthol, fig, horse chestnut, mountain ash and linseed polyholosides. Remember how cool your mouth feels when eating menthol bombons? That’s how refreshing and lifting my skin felt after having applied this gel. The gel works in improving the tone of veins and helps drain excess water around cells. Skin is plumper, smoother, firmer and more moisturized.
The green coffee body sculpting treatment made me feel lighter, I felt my skin cells were awaken and shaken, and that all the toxins left. This is an overall great impression, as it makes you want to eat healthier than usual, drink more water and eat more fruits.
PROs: I felt better, lighter, my skin was glowing, it looked more firm and I felt all the toxins left. It makes you want to have this treatment every week, to retain and even improve the results.
CONs: It makes you want to have this treatment every week, to retain and even improve the results.

This spa in Mexico sounds heavenly and it’s great since I’m already heading for Cabo with my wife. Will be sure to take a day for treatments alone.
Thank you so much Cesar! We are looking forward to your visit, and to hear your feedback on the spa. Have a great time in Cabo!
Warm greetings from Capella Pedregal!
